Champions League final recap as Real Madrid regain crown with Dortmund win (1)

The Champions League season all comes down to this.

Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid battle it out at Wembley Stadium tonight in a mouthwatering final. The Spanish side have, of course, been here on countless occasions before.

They already have 14 crowns to their name and are aiming to extend that stunning record in London. Carlo Ancelotti will likely field a star-studded team including Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and the departing Toni Kroos.

Dortmund find themselves attempting to lift only their second European title - their first coming all the way back in 1997. Edin Terzic will be the man attempting to mastermind a win against the odds and will hope to call on the likes of Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus.

Stay tuned with Mirror Football throughout the evening for all of the build-up and live coverage from Wembley, while streaming details can be found here...

Teams are in the tunnel

We're so close to the Champions League final as the teams gather in the tunnel.

Jude Bellingham looks laser focused, while Toni Kroos looks as cool as a cucumber. Jadon Sancho also looks raring to go.

Zinedine Zidane in the meantime has lifted the trophy onto the plinth...

Surely we're in for a cracker...

Kick-off show underway

It wouldn't be the Champions League final without an over-elaborate pre-match concert.

We've had Dua Lipa a few years back and now it's time for Lenny Kravitz...

Jurgen Klopp still loves Borussia Dortmund and he continues to display his loyatly to the German side.

Klopp, who is at Wembley, just got fully involved in a rousing rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Real Madrid fans fall to scam

While Dortmund fans are in absolutely terrific voice inside Wembley, some Real Madrid fans have had a nightmare.

270 Real Madrid fans were left stranded at Madrid–Barajas Airport after their chartered flight broke down.

Real Madrid supporter’s club Capote y Montera organised the trip, with fans paying around £930. The flight was due to land at East Midlands Airport early on Saturday morning, but never took off.

Dortmund build yellow wall

The yellow wall has been built inside Wembley Stadium tonight. The Borussia Dortmund fans were as loud as I've heard them for the home leg win against PSG in the semi final.

They've brought the noise with them to London as there has been yellow throughout the capital all day. And they are absolutely bellowing out in the stadium, completely outsinging the Real Madrid fans.

Their rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is already revurberating around Wembley.

If anything can inspire Dortmund to a shock win then it is their fans.

Woods returns

Just in time for the big game, Laura Woods is back on screens.

Woods, 36, joined Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Steve McManaman and special guest Jose Mourinho as part of TNT Sports' punditry team for the showpiece clash.

The TNT Sports and DAZN host was forced to pull out of Tyson Fury's Saudi clash with Oleksandr Usyk, and explained that it was due to a facial injury she picked up on holiday. Woods was then pictured in public for the first time less than a week later with a bandage on her cheek.

Rivaldo gives prediction

Former Barcelona and Brazil star Rivaldo has also given his say on this evening's titanic clash.

Speaking to Betfair, he said: "Given the number of Champions League titles that Real Madrid have, and the fact they are in another final, they are certainly able to be branded as the best side in the world, due to their steep history and titles.

"Of course, when you play for a big club, like I played for Barcelona, you end up always defending your club and your side, but when we analyse, we must not ignore what is in front of us. We cannot ignore the number of titles they have won in club football's biggest competition.

"Real Madrid should be congratulated for everything they have achieved in this competition. It's a team that knows how to play in the Champions League. They are now the favourites for the final. A few weeks ago, I said it would be Real Madrid vs Borussia, so I got the final right! However, I also said the champion would be Borussia.

"I think Madrid are favourites, for sure, but Borussia are coming with so much belief; they know how to play this competition, they know how to play in difficult games. We saw it in the two games they played against PSG, winning both legs. Yes, Madrid are the favourites, but I'm still with Borussia to be the crowned champions."

Dortmund coach held by police

Police held the Borussia Dortmund team coach outside of Wembley ahead of Saturday night's Champions League final - as Real Madrid had to arrive first.

The Bundesliga giants, led by head coach Edin Terzic, booked their spot in the final for Europe's grandest prize after seeing off the riches of Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

Dortmund now face the tall task of beating the most decorated side in Europe if they are to leave London with the Champions League - and they were left waiting outside Wembley by police in order to allow Real Madrid's coaches to pass them.

Mirror Sport team predict the final

It's the big one tonight and the Mirror Sport team have tried to predict how this evening's final will go.

I know you all want to see mine: "Yes, I know it’s boring but Real Madrid just know how to win Champions League titles. There’s a reason why Los Blancos sit at the top of the tree with 14 European trophies in their cabinet.

"While Borussia Dortmund have done excellently to reach the final, they won’t have enough to halt Real Madrid’s relentless pursuit of another crown. There is just a huge chasm when it comes to quality between the two sides.

"Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr will be the main threats for the Spanish giants, while Toni Kroos will want to go out on a high - particularly against his former foes from his time at Bayern Munich.

"Dortmund will have their moments, particularly through Niclas Fullkrug - who terrorised PSG in the semi-finals. Similarly to Kroos, Marco Reus will want to depart the club with a Champions League trophy under his arm. But the German side will fall just short."

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-3 Real Madrid
