My Experience
My title is Senior Features Writer, which is a license to write about absolutely anything if I can connect it to technology (I can). I’ve been at PCMag since 2011 and have covered the surveillance state, vaccination cards, ghost guns, voting, ISIS, art, fashion, film, design, gender bias, and more. You might have seen me on TV talking about these topics or heard me on your commute home on the radio or a podcast. Or maybe you’ve just seen my Bernie meme.

You worry about your kid being glued to their iPad—until the moment when they hurl it to the ground, and then you wish that glue was literal. iPads are expensive, and even if your kid is using one that you've handed down to them, you don't want to have to replace it.
Protecting your kid's iPad benefits both you and them. But finding a case designed to meet everyone's needs isn't easy. There are lots of options to sort through, and if you're a parent, you're probably short on time. So we've found some of the best solutions, from softly padded to all-out military-grade. Most models shown come in sizes for every type and several generations of iPad.
Bam Bino Space Suit Case
The Bam Bino Space Suit Case might not be ready for a mission to Mars, but it can go almost anywhere else. It provides complete screen protection and is well padded. The case also comes with an integrated carry handle and stand, a strap so that it can be toted over the shoulder or put on the back of a car seat for easy viewing, and a slot for an Apple Pencil. This model fits the iPad Pro, but Bam Bino makes the case in other sizes as well. It comes in four colors.
BRAECN Cute Case
The BRAECN Cute Case is indeed cute, but it's got a lot more going for it than looks. Great features include a 360-degree rotating hand strap, dual handle grips, a shoulder or car-seat strap, a kickstand, and an Apple Pencil holder. it comes in various adorable designs and colors.
Jay Franco Character Pillow
Kids can tuck their iPads into these Jay Franco Tablet Pillows. They come in two sizes: The small one fits iPad minis, and the large one can hold all other iPad models. Though the pillows offer no protection, you can use them with an iPad that's already in a case. And they are cuddly companions featuring your kid's favorite characters with which to play games and watch movies.
Komar Kids Bluey iPad Case
Everyone's favorite Blue Heeler is ready to join your kid and their iPad on adventures, whether in Australia or elsewhere. This case from Komar features Bluey, fits the iPad snugly, and is made of silicone, so it stands up to life with kids age five and older.
Gumdrop FoamTech for iPad
The Gumdrop FoamTech Case is made of soft, protective foam and has a handle that can also be used as a stand.ᅠThe brand is a popular one in elementary schools, which are the ultimate testing grounds for durability. This model is for 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-generation iPads. There a separate version for 10th-generation iPads.
Nitupai Spider-Man iPad Case
This Spider-Man–themed case comes in several color combinations, which is appropriate for the Spider-Verse. The entire case is shockproof, and the eyes double as kickstands.
OtterBox Kids EasyClean
"Easy clean" is a phrase that every parent likes to hear. It's right in the name of this OtterBox case for the iPad mini, which is wipeable—it can even go in the dishwasher if things get really bad. The case is comfortably chunky all around and also includes a screen protector. A built-in handle lets kids tote it and stand it up.
Poetic TurtleSkin iPad
The thick silicone of the Poetic TurtleSkin Case keeps iPads protected from bumps and amplifies sound with its speaker cutouts. There's no handle or kickstand on the TurtleSkin, so it's not suited for small kids, but it's perfect for older ones who need something sturdy and don't mind if it's not sleek. The Poetic TurtleSkin is available for all iPads; this one is for 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-generation iPads. ᅠ
Pzoz Bear iPad Case
ThisPzoz caseis unbearably cute. It also has easy-grip handles on the side and a kickstand in the back. It fits 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-generation iPads; there's also one available for the 5th-generation mini.
Simicoo Butterfly Case
This butterfly case is pretty and practical. Its EVA foam absorbs shocks, and its wings act as a stand. This particular model fits the 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-generation of the iPad. There's also one for the 10th generation iPad and the iPad mini.
Speck Case-E Run
The Speck Case-E Run looks a bit like a boombox, and it can survive any kid's dance party, since it has a shock-absorbent bumper and a handle that flips over to become a stand. This model fits 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-generation iPads.
Suplik Robot iPad Case
The Suplik Robot Case is made of EVA foam, so it bounces back from nearly everything. The robot's legs serve as a kickstand, and a shoulder strap makes for easy carrying and helps hang an iPad for viewing from the backseat of a car.

I strive to explain topics that you might come across in the news but not fully understand, such as NFTs and meme stocks. I’ve had the pleasure of talking tech with Jeff Goldblum, Ang Lee, and other celebrities who have brought a different perspective to it. I put great care into writing gift guides and am always touched by the notes I get from people who’ve used them to choose presents that have been well-received. Though I love that I get to write about the tech industry every day, it’s touched by gender, racial, and socioeconomic inequality and I try to bring these topics to light.
Outside of PCMag, I write fiction, poetry, humor, and essays on culture.
