SAG Awards 2024: Pedro Pascal reveals he's DRUNK as he scores win (2024)

Pedro Pascal was shocked - and a bit tipsy - when hewon bigat the 30th annual SAG Awards on Saturday.

The 48-year-old star took home Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Last Of Us.

No doubt it was a total upset as he beat out three Succession actors including Kieran Culkin, Brian Cox, and Matthew Macfadyen who have all swept Award Season. Billy Crudup was also nominated for The Morning Show.

The Mandalorian star - who had been quaffing tequila - was just as surprised by the result as he said: 'This is wrong, for a number of reasons. I'm a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk.'

'I'm making a fool of myself but thank you so much for this! I've been in the union since 1999 so this is an incredible f*****g honor', he continued. 'To the nominees, all of you, I can't remember any of your names right now.'

Pascal fought back tears thanking his family but swiftly ended his tipsy acceptance speech by joking: 'I'm going to have a panic attack and I'm going to leave.'

After the win, Pedro told Tan France: 'I don't remember what I said. I just was very surprised. ... Let's YouTube it later.'

He also said he was going to make out withKeiran Culkan as his revenge against the actor following their hilarious fake feud at the Emmys, where Kiera said 'Suck it, Pedro' while accepting his gong.

'He is the greatest,' Pascal added.

Pascal takes on the role of Joel in The Last of Us, portraying a surrogate father on a mission to transport 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to scientists, aiming to salvage a post-apocalyptic world.

He is set to reprise his role in The Last of Us Season 2, scheduled for production this year.

Fans went wild for Pedro's adorable acceptance speech as well as for his 'romance novel model' look as they took over social media with their hilarious thirst posts.

'Pedro is dressed like a 'romance novel model' and I mean that 100% as a compliment,' one write, as another gushed, 'Personally offended by how beautiful Pedro looks right now, gushed one fan.

Another posted, 'Pedro Pascal my love, my drunk, panic-attacked love.'

Speaking to DailyMail.com in the press room, the star said he was 'genuinely surprised' to have won and had 'teared up.'

He said: 'I've been drinking tequila. I'm sober now and just to keep the cold away, but what I've learned from playing Joel in The Last Of Us is probably something that I'll be discovering for the rest of my life.

'Going back into season two and stepping into those boots again, it feels, I don't know, strangely brand new. I've never done anything like this before that has such original authorship before I ever got to it.

'And then to be given the space to author what I have to give and to be under Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and alongside Bella Ramsey has been really the whole reason. It works for me.

'And I guess I'll be, I'm learning something new every day and I'll be thinking about it probably for the rest of my life every day.

'Filming on season two is going amazing. It's sort of awe-inspiring, the kind of focus and dedication that everyone has going into season two.

After a taxing 118-day strike, the Screen Actors Guild honored the best performers in film and television at the 30th annual.

Winners were determined by SAG-AFTRA members, who vote for their favorites across a number of categories.

Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani announced the nominations earlier this year on Instagram Live, with Barbie and Oppenheimerleading the film nominations with four nods each.

Barbie star Margot Robbie and Emma Stone from Poor Things were among the nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Maestro's Bradley Cooperand Oppenheimer's Cillian Murphy were also among the contenders for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.

Netflix streamed the ceremony for the first time. Last year's awards were streamed on Netflix's YouTube account.

The awards come just months after SAG-AFTRA struck a deal with film studios following a months-long strike with pay in the streaming era and artificial intelligence top issues of concern.

The strike began on July 25, 2023 and a tentative deal was struck on November 8. It formally ended on December 5, 2023 with a 78% yes in voting.

Despite disagreements over the final deal, the outcome was a huge relief for union leaders and the entertainment industry following a grueling few months of strikes.

The boycott coincided with the WGA strike, which lasted fromMay 2 to September 27.
