Applications are now open to candidates anticipating initial registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife in 2025 to join theMonash Health Graduate Programin the following streams and intakes:

  • General Nursing- Summer, Autumn & Winter Streams
  • Midwifery & Double Degree – Summer, Autumn & Winter Streams
  • Paediatric & Neonatal Nursing Stream- Summer only (February or March commencement)
  • Mental Health Nursing – Summer, Autumn & Winter Streams
  • Residential Aged Care and Subacute Nursing Stream- Summer only
  • Combined Mental Health & General Nursing Stream- Summer only

Intake Dates:

  • Summer Intake: 3rd February 2025 – 1st February 2026
  • Autumn Intake: 5th May 2025 – 3rd May 2026
  • Winter Intake: 4th August 2025 – 2nd August 2026

Graduates complete a comprehensive paid orientation in the lead up to commencement.

About You:

To be eligible for 2025 Graduate Program positions candidates must:

  • Be anticipating completion of their Nursing and or Midwifery Bachelor or Master's entry to practice degree in the academic year January 2024 to June 2025
  • Eligible to receive initial registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in 2024/2025
  • Participate in Graduate Nurse Midwifery Program Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (GNMP PMCV) match process
  • Have never previously participated in a Graduate Program for Registered Nursesand or Midwives (Candidates completing their Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery who are not working in a Health Service Employment Model are eligible to apply through the GNMP PMCV match process)

We accept applications from domestic applicants, New Zealand citizens and Australian Trained Temporary Residents with Australian working rights.

  • Commencement at part-time (64 hours/fortnight) with the opportunity to request full-time employment (76 hours/fortnight). Full-time employees accrue 4 ADO hours per fortnight
  • An extensive Graduate specific paid orientation and training program prior to commencing in the clinical area
  • General Nursing Stream Graduates have the opportunity to rotate into a preference area, with a wide range of different specialties available
  • Midwifery and Double Degree Graduates are allocated to a dedicated Maternity Team at either Clayton, Dandenong, Casey or Sandringham for the duration of the Graduate Program to ensure continuity of support and learning. Double Degree Graduates also rotate to a nursing clinical area at a range of sites, enabling them to consolidate their nursing skills in acute specialty areas
  • Ongoing employment offered within Monash Health upon successful completion of the Program
  • Paid learning time in each rotation, including supernumerary shifts andgraduate specific study days

About the Role:

The Monash Health Graduate Program takes pride in providing our Graduates with excellent opportunities to consolidate their skills, expand their experience as a beginning practitioner and grow their career.

  • General Nursing, Paediatric & Neonatal, Mental Health Nursing, Combined Nursing and Mental Health Nursing and Residential Aged Care and Subacute Streams offer Graduates a twelve-month structured programconsisting of two 6-month rotations
  • Graduate Midwives complete a 12-month structured program, consisting of four (4) three-month rotations:Two (2) birth suite rotationsand two (2) post/antenatal rotations
  • Double Degree Nursing/Midwifery Graduates complete a 12-month structured program, consisting of four (4) three-month rotations:two (2) birth suite rotations, one (1) post/antenatal rotationand one (1) nursing rotation

How to Apply:

The Monash Health Graduate Program application process has been streamlined to support candidates to submit strong applications that give them the best chance of success. Candidates must complete the following steps:

  1. Register with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) and apply for the GNMP Match. Your PMCV Candidate ID will be required for the application process
  2. Create an account/login on the Monash Health Careers website
  • Applications will be accepted via the Monash Health Careers Website only.Email applications will not be considered
  • Existing Monash Health Employees should apply using their Monash Health eHub Careers account. For any queries regarding employee eHub accounts please contact ehub@monashhealth.org
  1. Prepare your application as per the2025 Monash Health Graduate Program Application Guidelines(see the ‘Position Documents’ section below). To be considered, applications submitted to this job advertisem*nt must include:
  • A completed PDF version of the Monash Health 2025 Graduate Program Digital Application
  • Recent Academic Transcript, including the grading key page
  • A copy of your COVID-19 Digital Certificate and your Immunisation History Statement showing three doses of COVID 19 vaccine and annual Influenza vaccine

Offer of Employment:

Offers of employment is subject to satisfactory completion of the following probity checks prior to commencement:

  • Submission of a valid‘Employee’Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Completion of a clear Fit2Work police check conducted within three months of the contract commencement date
  • Submission of proof of immunisation
  • Confirmed registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife prior to the program clinical commencement date
  • Evidence of a valid Visa allowing full working rights with no restrictions (if not an Australian citizen or permanent resident) by the program clinical commencement date

In compliance with PMCV GNMP Match Business rules, offers of employment for these positions will be made from Wednesday 4th September 2024 onwards.
